Alan Kupperberg passes along these snippets of Gray Morrow's early seventies PRINCE VALIANT tryout page and notes that while Wally Wood's tryout is oft-reprinted, Gray's tends to go unnoticed.
The late Phil Seuling, father of the comic conventions of today, owned the original to Gray's page and proudly showed it to me on one of my visits to his home. After his passing, Phil's collection was sold off and spread to the four winds so no clue who owns it today, but I wish I did! Larry S
Those are gorgeous! And I honestly can't say whether Gray or Wally Wood should have continued Foster's PRINCE VALIANT. But it SHOULD have been one of them, and NOT John Cullen Murphy. And that's not an insult to Murphy.
